On visit day, please wear appropriate clothing. On sunny days we recommend long trousers and closed outdoor shoes or boots. Don’t forget sunscreen, hats and water too. In winter, on cold days, outdoor boots are essential along with waterproof/warm clothing, hats and gloves. Please also note our treks and hikes require a moderate level of fitness.

Important: From Monday 20th May - Friday 31st May the A68 is closed between Byrness to Carter bar, from 9am -3pm daily. The detour is over 100 miles. Our recommendation is for anyone travelling from the south who would usually use the A696 or A68 to use the A1 and A697 (via wooler instead).
